Mod + Ethico: Our Story
About Mod + Ethico
We’re edgy + refined. Distinct + classic. Luxe + every day. We’re Mod + Ethico, a clothing and lifestyle store that curates modern pieces made socially responsibly and sustainably. Dedicated to providing a conscious collection, comfort and functionality, Mod + Ethico caters to the busy lifestyle of the active, urban woman. We believe that women don’t have to compromise style for their values for quality, sustainability and fair wages. Each emerging designer we feature shares our vision for a better future for fashion and meet one or more of our standards: made in the U.S.A., fair-trade practices, eco-friendly materials and small scale production.
Headquartered in Chicago, Mod + Ethico has held multiple pop-up locations throughout the city. Beyond offering unique, socially responsible clothing and accessories, we try to locally collaborate to bring together up-and-coming artists, designers, entrepreneurs and businesses that share our mission for an ethically-sourced lifestyle. We regularly host special events and trunk shows to provide a platform for little-known names.
We hope you’ll join us in the Mod + Ethico movement to reshape the fashion industry and live better.
About Candice Collison, Founder
Candice Collison founded Mod + Ethico (formerly The SEWN Co.) in November 2015 out of her deep-rooted passion for well-constructed, responsibly made statement pieces. Growing up in Williamsburg, Virginia, Candice was introduced to the retail world working in her mother’s gift shop where she learned to appreciate how items are made and where materials are sourced. Her career eventually led her to work at the North Face in marketing and Google in analytics. Outside of her role as founder for Mod + Ethico, she serves as a marketing manager in digital advertising where she consults retail clients.
She holds a BA from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She lives in Chicago with her husband, Ben, and their daughter, Adalynn.
